SAT Fees and Registration in Kenya

We receive a lot of questions asking what the full cost of the SAT is and how to go about the registration.
And just like many parts of the college application process, taking the SAT (and even using your SAT scores) comes with an assortment of fees.
So let’s jump right into it!
Registration charges are mandatory if you are planning on taking the SAT and you will need to register at least a month before the test date.
SAT registration
LTS is the ONLY SAT registration and payment center in Kenya.
We DO NOT allow for registrations through agents.
Registration is done online. The first thing you need to do is to create an account with the College Board.
The account will allow you to register for the SAT and see your scores. You can also use it to research colleges. It’s an essential tool for all college applicants.
Pick a test date
You then want to pick a test date after that. Decide when you want to take the SAT, giving yourself at least a month to prepare. The SAT in Kenya is done in March, May, June, October, November and December.
What happens if you miss the deadline? College Board has a waitlist which means that students who miss the late registration deadline may still be able to register but at a fee. The charge is processed only if you end up taking the test.
Pick a test center location
Picking a test center is not as easy as it may sound. You’ll want to find one that’s conveniently located and a place where you feel comfortable.

So how much does the SAT cost?
The SAT test registration fee is KES 15,000

To avoid scrambling to get your official score reports to schools before their application deadlines, take the test early.
It takes about three weeks for your scores to be posted after you take your SAT. You should budget another two weeks at the minimum for colleges to actually receive your score reports.
Register early
If you miss the normal deadline and have to register late, you’ll end up increasing your total registration costs by about 50%. Registering months in advance won’t only save you money – it will also ensure you get the test date you want before all the seats are booked.
Take advantage of free score reports
You can send up to four score reports for free if you specify the schools you’d like to send your scores to early enough. List the four schools when you are doing the registration.
Final thoughts
Studying for the SAT is stressful, so registering should be the least of your worries. If you take care of the process far before the deadline, you won’t have to worry about any last minute technical difficulties. So if you’re still procrastinating, go ahead and register for the SAT already! And then get studying!!!
